If you haven’t heard, they are reuniting for a tour this summer. I’ve got tickets for the Portland show in June. It should be amazing. I’ve seen Chick Corea, Al DiMeola and Stanley Clarke by themselves and all of the shows were great. I think Lenny White is horribly underrated and look forward to seeing him, also. Here’s their new official website.
Hey! Sorry I haven’t updated any songs lately. I’ve been working on my chops, which has forced me away from the computer. I want to get another YouTube video up, so I’ve been working on my arrangement of Tune Up by Miles Davis. The problem is I want to improv over the changes for a couple of choruses and have it not suck! ![]()
I’ve been working out of Scott Henderson’s Jazz Guitar Chord System book and Jerry Bergonzi’s Melodic Structures book. I also stumbled upon Jack Zucker’s Dodecaphonics, which has got me thinking pretty hard about harmony.
Please check out the guest transcriptions page. Daniel Montplaisir has kindly added his take on Monk’s ‘Round Midnight. Also, check out Licks/Phrases/Chords. I’ve got some ideas for that and have been updating it the last few weeks.
By the way, check out this video by Mike Oria. This is what made me hit the woodshed a little harder recently.
Hello and welcome to the website. I have some chord melody arrangements that I would like to share with you. These were made using the free Power Tab Editor by Brad Larsen, which you can download here. I also have these available in PDF format. All of the arrangements were done from lead sheets or memory. Some of these songs I’ve never actually heard before(ha ha), like Three Flowers. Hopefully, they reflect the artist’s vision. Please check back, because I’ll be adding more tabs soon. Thanks! Send me an email if you want to make a suggestion or request. I also give guitar lessons in the Portland, Oregon area. Drop me a line if you’re interested.
I’ve also got a collection of original tunes on the User Compositon Archive. This is a Power Tab community where people submit original music to be rated by other members. There’s also some fun composition contests. Most of my stuff on there is more pop than jazz, although there is some fusiony stuff. Here’s my profile on that site. Some of the compositions are collaborations, so you’ll have to read the notes. Thanks!
If you’ve got some time, please check out some of my videos on YouTube. I’m still working on getting decent sound and lighting on camera…and I also need to tighten up my chops(ha ha). Please check back, because I’ll be adding more videos soon. Thanks!
If anyone is interested, I ripped the audio from my six videos. The sound quality is not great, but whatever
There’s also a large MP3 of Blue Bossa that was done with a co-worker(drummer). Blue Monk, How High the Moon, Someday My Prince Will Come, Take the “A” Train, Blue Bossa, Night in Tunisia, Don’t Get Around Much Anymore
